The ferret (Mustela putorius furo) is a strict carnivorous mustelid, descended from the polecat. Its nutritional needs differ radically from those of rodents or rabbits: it requires a diet rich in animal proteins (≥ 35%), low in carbohydrates, and a portion of raw meat to maintain its longevity.
