Herbivores

A herbivore is an animal that has a diet that is exclusively vegetable matter, based on plants and grass. The main component of vegetable matter is cellulose, a carbohydrate that is very difficult to digest, but nature has developed with various ways of dealing with it.

There are two large groups of herbivores: polygastric (ruminant) and monogastric (one stomach).
